Sadrac De Souza Yawanawa

Sadrac (30), whose professional/artistic name is ‘Paka’, is a musician and spiritual leader of the indigenous Yawanawá community, living in a small village in Rio Gregório in the Brazilian state of Acre. There are around 1,500 Yawanawá people, who live in nine villages along the Gregório River.

Paka’s participation will be facilitated in partnership with the cultural organisation IRIS, who are based in Rio de Janeiro and work with different indigenous communities throughout the Brazilian Amazon supporting community-based projects and events focused on culture, ecology, social justice, and spirituality.
