Ch'umilkajis a singer-songwriter of Kaqchikel descent, originally from Comalapa, Guatemala. Her artistic work reflects themes such as identity, Mother Earth, historical memory, and the cultural values of her people. Her music has been recognized for its contribution to the vindication, dignification, preservation and dissemination of Kaqchikel culture internationally. Ch'umilkaj is also known for her defense of the human rights of women and indigenous peoples, as a teacher, a graduate in musical education, and a cultural manager and promoter.
