“Water remembers. It is humans who forget
- Elif Shafak

As the indigenous scientist Robin Wall Kimmerer says, we can’t meaningfully proceed with healing, with restoration, without “re-story-ation”. In other words, water cannot heal until we hear its stories.

And stories, as we should know, are not an artefact from the past, but instructions for the future.

The Flow Project brings to life the diverse stories of water through music.

From droughts in Brazil to the future flooding rivers in the UK, water is trying to tell us something about the climate crisis, and we are here to amplify its voice, to let it be heard.

Through the flow of rap, drops of hip-hop, and waves of spoken word, 5 prolific female artists from three continents will create an international collaboration, that will be recorded and reseated as an album, culminating in a high-profile performance in the Brazilian Amazon during COP30 in November 2025, presented to key media, policymakers, and stakeholders.

With the power of water and music, we aim to restore our collective memories of interconnectedness, unite people in environmental stewardship and awaken a sense of reverence for the cycles of life.

We are inviting submissions of sounds of water from around the world, which will then be made available for musicians in creating a brand new album by 5 prolific female artists (TBA) - released in 2026.

The sounds you share may become part of the album, woven into the music that carries water’s stories to the world.

Be part of this wave by submitting sounds of water, or something that tells the story of water for you. This could be:

  • A musical piece using water or inspired by it

  • A sound from an instrument

  • A raw audio recording of a stream, rain, or ocean

  • A story, poem, wisdom or call to action

  • A sound from your instrument that speaks of water’s essence

We welcome contributions from all backgrounds, countries, cultures and communities. Please read full details on the form before submitting.
