Two Seas is a new project telling the stories of two bodies of water that carry important messages about climate change
Two Seas explores the climate crisis through the stories of:
The frozen waters of the Bothnian Bay in Oulu, Finland
The dried-out remains of the Aral Sea in Muynak, Uzbekistan
The project sees a collaboration between EarthSonic, electronic group Paranoid London, Finnish and Sami artists from across Finland, Uzbekistani artists, Matt Black (Coldcut), and Ben Sheppee (The Observatory) - who together will develop a new audio-visual installation using field recordings, electronic music, and site-specific performance to examine environmental change through sound and inspire positive action.
The project will culminate in a live performance at Shambala Festival in August 2026, with the premiere of the installation coming to Amsterdam Dance Event in October 2026.
In February 2026, Paranoid London travelled to Frozen People Festival to record sounds of the melting frozen sea in Oulu and perform live at the festival.
In Summer 2026, we will travel to Muynak, Uzbekistan to record sounds of the dried Aral Sea accompanied by a live performance from Paranoid London at OFF SAND (Stihia festival).
Both events are crucial in bringing this project to international audiences, building community and championing art and creativity as tools for resistance and resilience.

Two Seas: One Story
The Bothnian Bay is a story of climate change acting on a living system — one that is still freezing each winter, but visibly and measurably changing in ways that threaten the species and communities that depend on it.
The Aral Sea is a story of human activity triggering ecological disaster and local climate disruption — a cautionary tale showing what runaway climate change and environmental collapse looks like, and a complex one: part catastrophe, part tentative lesson in recovery.
