Tarrak
Josef Tarrak-Petrussen, also known as Tarrak (shadow in Greenlandic) was born in Nanortalik, Greenland to a Greenlandic mother and Moroccan father. Tarrak is a rapper and exclusively raps in his mother tongue, Kalaallisut. In 2016, he released his first album which caused controversy in Greenland with its track “Tupilak'', which deals with the conformity of language and discrimination, and in which he critisises. This led to his achievement of fame in Greenland and Denmark, putting his relationship to his home on the agenda. He later received an award from Naalakkersuisut, the Government of Greenland. Besides talking about colonialism through his music, he also incorporates the sounds of biodiversity with his voice.
