D-FUSE’s ‘Nine Earths’ immersive installation

TIME: every hour from 11am (last screening begins at 15:00)

LOCATION: South Asia Gallery

Nine Earths is an immersive artwork that explores the relationship between ordinary lives and humanity’s excessive demand for the Earth’s resources. In doing so it invites the viewer to reflect on our impact on the planet, and how this connects us all.

Each year human demand for natural resources exceeds what our planet can regenerate in that time. We are going beyond what scientists call our planetary boundaries, and in doing so putting all our futures at risk.

If we all consumed as much as Qatar, the highest consuming nation of all and the inspiration for the title, we would need the equivalent of nine Earths to sustain us.

D-Fuse, works at the intersection of art, science, and technology to create multimedia environmental stories. Founded in the mid-1990s by neurodivergent artist Mike Faulkner, a pioneer of VJ culture, evolving from graphic design and web to live audiovisual performance to amplify marginalised voices and explore humanity’s excessive demand on Earth’s resources. Mike’s neurodivergent perspective informs D-Fuse’s sensory-rich, nonlinear storytelling, showcased across immersive installations, experimental film, and AV performances.
