Sarah Williams

Sarah Williams is the CEO of IMPEL, a collective of independent music publishers who license digital services. She is also an independent music lawyer. Over her career, her wide range of interests and focus on the bigger picture have also led into the fields of politics, conflict resolution and the non-profit sector.

Sarah is part of the management of Palestine Music Expo (aka PMX), an organisation of Palestinians and internationals who have run three highly successful music expos in Ramallah in the West Bank and whose goal is to connect the Palestinian music scene with the international music scene and to support Palestinian musical culture through the development of an authentic, locally-owned and sustainable Palestinian music industry.

She is also an adviser to Earth Percent, a charity that helps artists and music-related organisations to pledge a small percentage of their income to climate causes. 100% of the funds raised from artists, companies and brands is paid out in grants to some of the most impactful organisations working in climate justice, legal and policy change, protecting nature, Just Energy Transition and in Greening the music industry.

In 2003, Sarah took a sabbatical from her music industry career to study in the US as a Rotary Peace Fellow. She holds a LLB in Law (Bristol University) a LLM in International Law (LSE), and MAs in Political Science (UC Berkeley) and International Studies (UC Berkeley).
