Sound Bank: Fire

Elements

This Sound Bank features sounds of wildfire and responses to it from different contexts and locations - from a Scottish moorland to Brazil’s Atlantic Forest and cerrado biomes, Yellowstone National Park, and even a combined audio feed from fire response teams during the devastating LA fires of January 2025.

Wildfires naturally renew ecosystems by clearing dead vegetation, recycling nutrients into soil, stimulating seed germination, and maintaining fire-adapted habitats. However, they also threaten lives, homes, air quality, water supplies, and biodiversity. Intensified by climate change, uncontrolled fires increase erosion, carbon emissions, economic losses, and long-term environmental and public health risks.

More information about each recording, as well as copyright information for all audio samples can be found in the Information Pack.
