Two Seas

Beatport Challenge

Two Seas is a collaboration between EarthSonic, electronic group Paranoid London, Finnish and Uzbekistani artists, Matt Black (Coldcut), and Ben Sheppee (Observatory) - who together are developing a new audio-visual installation using field recordings, electronic music, and site-specific performance to examine environmental change through sound and inspire positive action.

The tracks developed during over the project will culminate in the creation of a brand new album, released January 2027.

As part of the Two Seas project, In Place of War is partnering with Beatport on a producer challenge.

We are inviting producers worldwide to create original tracks using sound recordings from both the Aral and Caspian Sea, with two tracks chosen to be featured on the Two Seas album.

How to participate:

1) Download the sample packs for the seas on the Beatport portal.

2) Choose which sea you want to create a track for, using only sounds from that sea's sample pack (not combined).

3) Create your track using samples from the pack provided and submit it before the deadline.

4) Make sure you title your track with the name of the sea whose samples you used.

Prize:

A winning track will be chosen for each sea to be considered for the official release.

Submissions must only use sounds from one sea (not combined).

Deadline:

All entries must be submitted through the LabelRadar page by 11:59pm PST on 30th August 2026 to be eligible.

The sample pack is available using the download link at the top right of the page in the Beatport portal. Good luck!
