Gadi Sassoon
Gadi Sassoon is a composer and transmedia artist from Milan. Classically trained, he builds his own instruments and systems and performs with them at electronic festivals, research institutions and galleries, including Sónar Barcelona, EMPAC, MUTEK, TEDx and London Design Festival. His live work is centred on machine amplification. Local agents turn his musical gestures into sonic layers, visuals, lighting and robotics, and he performs wearing a 3D-printed robotic augmentation that responds to the sounds he makes. The work is about human agency, embodiment and presence, and rests on instrumental improvisation.
He has released three albums: Multiverse (2020) and Chaos & Order (2022) on ASIP, developed with physicists and mathematicians around algorithmically modelled "impossible instruments", and Modes of Vibration (2025), built on a sculptural synthesiser made of four metal plates. With Reeps One he created Fusion for Leipzig Ballet.
He has appeared at a series of United Nations summits as a performer and speaker. An independent researcher in AI ethics, AI architecture and sound synthesis, his work has appeared in MIT Computer Music Journal, MIT Technology Review, Cambridge University Press and Harvard Business Review. He is published by Just Isn't Music, Ninja Tune's publishing arm.
