Day I

Date:
15 October, 2025
Time: 16:30 - 17:15 followed by a joik performance by Katarina Barruk & DJ set with Niilas
Place: Blue Earth Stage
Woolwich Works,The Fireworks Factory
11 No 1 St, Royal Arsenal, SE18 6HD

This immersive session combines discussion with stunning visuals and music from BICEP’s TAKKUK project, an audiovisual installation blending electronic music, environmental storytelling, and Indigenous Arctic artistry. Interlacing film, sound, and conversation, it explores how music can open new ways of telling stories and engaging audiences who may not usually connect with environmental or cultural narratives. Joined by the artists themselves, the panel will ask: What impact can collaborations like this have? Can music shift perspectives, drive action, and how do we measure cultural change? Expect a rich, sensory experience that blurs the boundaries between art, activism, and audience.

Speakers:

Ruth Daniel (CEO & Artistic Director, EarthSonic & In Place of War)
Katarina Barruk (Singer & Songwriter)
Zak Norman (Visual Artist, Bicep Collaborator)
Niilas (Musician, Producer, & DJ)

Day II

Date: 16 October, 2025
Time: 15:45 - 16:15 followed by a DJ set by Natural Symphony
Place: Courtyard Stage
Woolwich Works,The Fireworks Factory
11 No 1 St, Royal Arsenal, SE18 6HD

Legendary musician and producer Martyn Ware (Human League & Heaven 17) joins sound artist and DJ Joey (Natural Symphony) to explore how music shapes perception, unites communities, and can lead to meaningful cultural shifts. Together, they delve into music’s capacity to move hearts and minds, asking: Can sound alone shift society? Is music a catalyst for real-world action or a temporary escape from chaos? How do rhythm, resonance, and storytelling through sound spark environmental awareness and a sense of shared responsibility?

Moderated by cultural changemaker Ruth Daniel (EarthSonic), this thought-provoking discussion questions the limits and possibilities of music as a force for good and invites us to reimagine how we listen, respond, and create in harmony with the planet.

Speakers:

Ruth Daniel (CEO & Artistic Director, EarthSonic & In Place of War)
Martyn Ware (Singer & Songwriter)
Joey Dean (Natural Symphony) (Visual Artist, Bicep Collaborator)
